Solidarity, participating, and resistance
Who Are We?
The Journalists Alliance is a collective that unites Arabic-speaking female journalists from across the region, representing a collaborative network that transcends borders, cultures, and religions. It aims to empower female journalists by providing resources, guidance, training, solidarity campaigns, and building a supportive professional community.
The Alliance is founded on the firm belief that journalism that challenges patriarchal systems and colonialism is essential for understanding and addressing the complex challenges in our region. Through a collaborative environment based on knowledge exchange and building professional networks, we aspire to support female journalists to remain in the field and inspire more women to enter this vital profession.
The Alliance also works to promote diversity in media narratives and ensure balanced representation that contributes to social justice. We monitor violations against female journalists and seek to counter them, work to empower them professionally, legally, and psychologically, enhance their physical and digital safety, and provide logistical, technical, and training support to Alliance members and assist them in assuming leadership roles.
For the safety of our colleagues in Iraq, we had to practice self-censorship and delete key words from this definition, in compliance with government directives prohibiting their use.
